Review: Lush Ocean Salt

You may have already guessed from my review of The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Microdermabrasion that I love the scrubbiest scrubs that ever scrubbed!

Truth is though, other than bath bombs my experience with Lush cosmetics doesn’t stretch very far and I just so happened to pick this product up by chance.

I simply went off a recommendation from one of my friends and after using Ocean Salt, DYING to get to the nearest Lush store to try other products would be a serious understatement.

I can’t say that I was surprised, it’s almost like I just wasn’t expecting anything to be as good or on the same par as The Body Shop scrubs I already love and swear by.

The best word I can use to describe Ocean Salt is AMAZING! It’s marketed as a face & body scrub but given the size of the tub I bought (there is a larger size tub available) I would probably only manage to remove one full-body spray tan with it.

For that reason I will probably only use it on my face and for REALLY stubborn areas of tan on the body for example the ankles, elbows etc…

As I mentioned above, I love extremely scrubby scrubs and this one is the scrubbiest scrub that ever scrubbed!

It has extremely (what I would consider) large particles of salt that can only described as rough, borderline sore when moved around the skin in circular motions! Not in a bad way either, this is what I expect from body/face scrubs and anything short of this, in my eyes, is a scrub failure.

Sea salt is rich in natural minerals like sodium and magnesium and it also has a natural antiseptic and astringent affect which helps to rejuvenate the skin.

Lush’s fine and coarse sea salt is harvested by hand from the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of Portugal. Their crystals are free from pesticides, waste, heavy metals and radioactivity.

They are also totally unrefined which ensures all the natural trace minerals are present which then in turn, gives maximum benefit to the skin.

Ocean Salt also contains active grapefruit ingredients which are beneficial for lots of different reasons. Firstly aromatherapists use grapefruit to help with stress, depression and even Seasonal Affective Disorder which can strike during the dark winter months!

Aside from this, grapefruit is also used as an antiseptic, astringent, antibacterial oil for conditions such as congested, oily or acne-prone skin.

Organic lime ingredients brighten while a mix of avocado and mango ingredients soften the skin.

Mango is filled with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants including calcium, potassium, vitamin A, E and C and several B vitamins.

Mango butter is also  particularly useful on neglected or sun-damaged skin which is why I thought it would be the perfect travel companion with  me here in California considering it’s been between 35-40 degrees every day!

Avocado contains unsaturated oil that rehydrates skin and soothes the upper layers of skin leaving skin like a baby’s bum after use!

I highly recommend you try Ocean Salt out or alternatively, it would make for a great gift/stocking filler!

As I mentioned, I picked this up here in the states and it was priced at $21.95. I did also mention that it comes in a larger sized tub and that one is priced at $36.95, I don’t unfortunately have the euro prices off the top of my head but you will find Ocean Salt at your nearest Lush store!
